AI Doesn't Tempt Me

AI has been out in the public for about a year and I’m still feeling, “No, thank you.”
I don’t hate AI. It’s a tool that could be used to serve humanity. It currently isn’t, and that’s not even including the huge copyright problems with artwork.
I just value the human creative process too much to care about an assortment of imagery produced by tech. It’s still obvious when something was made by AI, especially as an artist. It has a metallic taste to it. It’s less than fantasy because fantasy comes from the human mind and can be channeled into the creation.
Using one’s own hands to compose music, draw, sculpt, and write is a profoundly soulful experience. Yes, even the failures. Yes, even the “I suck at this” ego moments.
The process of creation IS a creation itself.
Can AI be used to create cool stuff? Totally! Go for it!
It's awesome that AI can automate things. It's awesome that anyone can use AI to make music and visual content.
I just prefer to create the cool stuff with my own brain, eyes, and hands.
AI and that whole thread of transcending the soulfulness of human expression is a thread I’m just uninterested in. I’m for the grit. I’m for the visceral experience of learning and mistakes and learning from mistakes.
If that physically drops down into your pelvis, if you have a feeling of, “That’s it”, then you’re right at home here.
