Your Body And The Lies You Tell Yourself

When I first learned that many people feel nothing when their mind tells them lies, I was shocked.

Feeling a physical manifestation of negative self-talk has always been part of my reality. Even just thinking, "Well, I guess we'll have to settle for the lesser thing," triggers palpable tension. In my throat especially.

Like my ego strangling the fascia by trying to keep me small.

It feels untrue. Putting yourself down puts stress on your nervous system, whether you actively notice it or not. Once you feel its effects, it's easier to realise where you're holding onto old stressors, which makes it easier to focus on those areas and release them.

There's tremendous amounts of information in your body. By staying ignorant, you do yourself and your growth no favours.

Next time you think thoughts like, "I can't have this. I'm not good enough. I'll never handle this well. I suck. I'm always unlucky. People hate me", focus on your body.

Where do those thoughts travel? Is there tightness or tingling anywhere? Is there coldness or heat?

Maybe just reading those words already activated something.

Be really mindful here. Chances are you have yet to cultivate a level of nuance for your body's more subtle sensations.

This will take time. You might feel numb. You might get frustrated when you don't immediately feel more. Or when you feel something unexpected and, maybe, unwanted.

Everything is allowed. Stay in your body. It remembers everything your mind has forgotten.

And I mean that in the literal sense. There's nothing 'woo woo ' about chronic fascia tension.

Ultimately, your body is yours and it will have its own ways to show you what it needs. Whatever resonates, resonates. If something doesn't land, it doesn't land. There's no need to force things.

Respect your body where it is right now.
