As humans, we tend to expect flawless efficiency from ourselves every day.
At least us perfectionists and Type A people do, much to our own detriment.
Nobody can always be “on”.
We need rest.
Real rest.
Not watching Netflix whilst checking Twitter, writing an email and ignoring our bladder that’s been demanding that we pee for two hours.
This article offers some tips and tricks to relax, if you need it. I sure did.
And I especially need it at the moment.
For the past two days, I’ve been sleeping like a log.
Until 12pm.
Not changing anything about my sleeping routine.
Can you believe it?
I can.
I’ve been straining my nervous system in ways I never have before.
Starting a blog. Posting every day on Instagram. Baring my deepest insecurity to the world in an article on a huge website.
This is a huge energetic blow.
I'm experiencing symptoms I’ve rarely experienced before.
I have a huge headache. My muscles are sore everywhere. Some tendon in my foot is sprained. I’m tired and exhausted.
Some years ago, I would’ve punished myself. Blamed myself for being too weak, too undisciplined.
Too feminine.
My system needs rest.
My system needs nourishment.
And it’s my responsibility to provide.
Eating more meat and carbs. Drinking more water and milk.
Massages. Gentle yoga. Sleep.
Especially sleep.
Get those eight hours, champ.
Or even ten to eleven, if you need them.
No amount of money or followers or SEO stats are worth burnout or exhaustion.
It’s 8pm now and I’ll be going to sleep now.
Have a good one.
Yes, exactly! Get some rest if you need, never ever go towards a painful burnout (if not more)! And you are oh so right, it's good to not be ''on'' sometimes - we do deserve to charge out inner batteries.
